YES ON S:
HIGH QUALITY LEARNING AND CARE
FOR ALL CHILDREN
Measure S was developed with broad community input and is essential to fulfill the Ravenswood Promise to empower every student to shape a brighter future for themselves and our community. Through the Ravenswood Promise, community-centered strategic planning process, we collectively define our shared vision of what we want to be true for students AND a community action plan to help us get there. Through Ravenswood Promise, and Measure S, we seek to empower students to realize their unique talents and capabilities, ultimately shaping a brighter future for themselves and their community.
Measure S provides high quality learning and care for all Ravenswood children through the following initiatives:
Investing during the first five years of life to lay the foundation for all the years that follow. Our children deserve the best early learning and high-quality childcare programs during this critical period of their development, and this measure will help provide them.
Improving quality childcare and preschool programs to strengthen K-8 education as kids who go to high quality preschool are more likely to read proficiently by the third grade, and more likely to graduate and go on to college.
Expanding affordable childcare as it should not be a luxury. Yet, many middle- and low-income families simply can’t afford this expense and are forced to work two jobs, leave the workforce entirely, or depend on poor quality child care just to make ends meet. This measure would support families of all incomes having access to the childcare they deserve.
Every penny of Measure S will be used to improve local schools and childcare.
No funds can be taken by the State
All funds will be controlled locally, with community input, citizen oversight, and annual audits to ensure funds are used as promised
No funds can be used for administrators’ salaries, benefits or pensions.
When accounting for student need, Ravenswood receives less state funds than nearly all of our neighboring school districts. In deep partnership with the community, together we have developed an action plan that prioritizes investments to create an exceptional and transformative education for all.
